Acrylic realism painting - colourful expressions of memory

About the Artist

IMG_0729.jpeg

Mary Ann is a Canadian acrylic painter whose work explores the relationship between nature, memory, and the objects that shape our lives. Typewriters, glass bottles, books, and teacups become unlikely hosts for growth, each carrying traces of the stories they have held.

Her paintings are rooted in a fascination with what we hold onto, what we inherit, and what endures. She is drawn to the small everyday things that hold our memories, and to the way nostalgia can be comforting and joyful.

Living in a nineteenth century farmhouse in rural Ontario, Mary Ann draws daily inspiration from her gardens and the resilience of the natural world. Influenced by personal loss and her experience with grief, her work reflects the belief that growth and memory can exist side by side. What we cherish does not have to disappear, it can transform with us into something new.
